Killing Two Birds With One Stone Corn farmers have a new option for defending their crops against nasty predators. FMC has announced the launch of a new product that is both an insecticide and a fungicide, called Ethos XB. This remarkable new product will protect corn crops from both insects and fungus right from when farmers plant the seeds. The product is designed to protect seedlings from soil pests and diseases, and continue protecting them throughout their growth. Ethos XB, designed to use in-furrow, utilizes a strain of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens to spread beneficial rhizobacteria around the seed and its roots. The bacteria grows on the root surfaces and creates a protective barrier around the entire root system, protecting the plants from soil pests and pathogens beyond the seedling stage when most seed treatments are effective. This allows the corn to grow without threat of infection, and results in more uniform stands and a higher yield. Compare it to standing terrifying bodyguards around each seeds bedroom. They have the ultimate protection from harm from when they are just born to when they are picked. What do you think of this incredible new corn insecticide/fungicide? Do you think it could revolutionize the industry?
