Killer Hornets You might want to be careful where you step next time you're out camping. 60-year-old Warren Brown was out camping at the Kittitas County campsite when he was stung by hornets so many times that he died. Brown was chopping wood when he disturbed a hornets' nest, causing the giant wasps to attack. Medical staff were unable to revive him at the county hospital. Just a few weeks ago a British man was also swarmed by hornets when he accidentally stood on a nest. He was stung 37 times, but miraculously survived. 42-year-old David Williams-Jones says the experience was hell. This behavior isn't surprising, however. Hornets are known to attack in large swarms when their nests are disturbed. The insects are simply responding to a threat to their offspring and queen. So, it's important to look out for the large brown nests when you're outside, whether you're in your own backyard or at a campsite.
